EMB 97 - Brown Amy and Carnita - Hard French
The Hard French Crew have just closed out our first season and quickly become San Francisco’s favorite daytime soul music party. The idea behind the event is to modernize, takeover, revamp, trick out, revive, and do up the outdoor afternoon dance party experience. This is a party for everyone – where drag queens mingle with lesbians, leather daddy’s soul dance with Cholas, sharps share hot dogs with activists, jocks make out with twinks, brown meets white meets purple meets gay guy meets ladies meets q and everyone leaves excited to come back next month. The party is DJ’d by resident and soul music wizards DJ Carnita and DJ Brown Amy and has featured some of the best soul DJs in SF and beyond including Primo (Oldie’s Night), Dick Vivian (Rooky Ricardo’s Records), DJ Bus Station John (Tubesteak Connection), John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig & the Angry Inch/Shortbus), DJ Shannon Action Slacks, DJ Lucky (Soul Party!) and more.
EMB 96 - Bunny & DavO
Bunny and DavO met on a stage over a pile of b’more breaks and go-go cowbells. They decided to throw a party called Blood Sweat & Queers. Then they decided to make their own music together. This mix is the beginning of a little bit of it. Thanks for listening.
EMB 95 - VivvyAnne Forevermore - SOME THING
EMB 94 - Hard Ton
Hard Ton is the XXL disco diva of the XXI Century! Italy is known for its big singers but this one really breaks the mould. His Sylvester styled falsettos conjure up the smoky, poppers-fuelled dancefloors of Hi-NRG mixed with a completely contemporary sound of accelerated beats and screaming acid basslines. Using, exclusively, analogue and vintage gear from the 303, 606, 707, Oberheim DMX, Korg Monopoly, MS20, Prophet V5, the list goes on and is a calling card to any gear-nerd.
But the music never becomes stiff or contrived, in fact it always remains fun, as expected when you play with equipment that lives and dies by its own unpredictable rules.
With his 150kg, Hard Ton is a Giorgio Moroder low-fat grooves model meeting a heavyweight Chicago
Trax queen machine.
EMB 93 - dj DAMnation
Demetri Moshoyannis AKA DJ DAMnation grew up listening to new wave in middle and high school, worshiping the greatest artists of the time. Favorites consisted of Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Blancmange, OMD, and many more. That said, he always favored the one-hit wonders that made that scene so special.
When he came out in the NYC club scene of the late ’80s, spaces like Tunnel, Mars, Limelight, Roxy and Sound Factory gave him a crash course in NYC underground house and early techno music. He’ll still play an old favorite or two.
As a result, his current sound is a blend of the indie pop and house genres with hints of others as well (e.g. nu disco, acid house), relying heavily on his favorite remixers (e.g. Azari & III, Tensnake, Punks Jump Up, In Flagranti) as the basis for his sets.
He serves as the Executive Director of Folsom Street Events, and he spins weekly at the Powerhouse as well as many one-off events around San Francisco.
EMB 92 - Jason Kendig - Honey Soundsystem

He’s played with Horse Meat Disco in London and at Club Lux in Lisbon, Tripod in Dublin, Pratersauna and Fluc Wanne in Vienna, Berghain in Berlin and Hafen 2 in Frankfurt. He’ll bring an extremely wide range old and new school disco, house and techno.
